Vivid Sydney 2024: A Feast For Your Eyes & Palate

Thursday,
The Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Sydney Harbour and the city skyline during the annual Vivid Sydney.
Sydney Harbour becomes a technicolour wonderland every year during Vivid Sydney.

The Vivid Sydney Lights Festival is an absolute feast for all your senses! This annual festival, which attracts millions of people every year, returns to Sydney for its 14th edition from 24 May to 15 June.

While Vivid Lights, Music and Ideas have been the staple pillars of this festival, Vivid Food introduced in 2023, is all set to make its presence felt this year!

As the bustling Vivid Sydney precincts and star attractions are on the harbourfront, the best way for a ‘lights and food’ experience is to board one of the Vivid Sydney cruises on luxury boats! There are other culinary events and food venues spread across different precincts that promise to be an immersive feast for your eyes and palate.

To get a taste of what's coming up, here’s a sneak peek into must-do experiences for the ‘foodie’ during the Vivid Sydney 2024.

1) Vivid Sydney Dinner Cruises

Experience the magic of Vivid Sydney and its iconic harbour installations from a stunning on-water vantage point aboard one of the popular Vivid Sydney cruises. The Vivid dinner cruises, in particular, offer a unique combination of a cruise on board a luxury boat, combined with dinner, drinks and entertainment (differs from vessel to vessel).

This is a must-do experience during the Vivid Lights Festival as it offers the best of Sydney on a cruising platter. The ‘Lighting of the Sails’ of the Opera House, the thematic projections on the Harbour Bridge pylons, the beaming ‘Global Rainbow’ from the Sydney Tower Eye etc. are best experienced from the decks of your vessel – need we say more?

2) Plates with Purpose - A Taste Of Ukraine by Borys Chernyk

At Kyiv Social, you can enjoy a specially crafted 10-course degustation menu that offers an authentic taste of Ukrainian family dining. Not only does this experience allow you to savour traditional dishes and nostalgic favourites reimagined by head chef Borys Chernyk, but it also supports a meaningful cause.

This event is proudly curated by Plate It Forward, a dynamic social enterprise dedicated to combating social inequity through the power of food. Here they have partnered with Kyiv Social, to provide meaningful employment opportunities for Ukrainian refugees, fostering empowerment and resilience in the face of adversity.

3) A Culinary Canvas by Danielle Alvarez

At the iconic Yallamundi Rooms, right in front of the Sydney Opera House, you can enjoy an evening filled with art, culture, and cuisine curated by Danielle Alvarez.

These unique culinary creations, can be savoured with the finest wines carefully selected by leading lady sommelier Louella Mathews. Enjoy this with an intimate musical performance by the talented Australian artist Katie Noonan.
